Well whaddayaknow, I just successfully archived the pre-2012 didi.com.au website! I’ve been dreading doing this for months and decided to bite the bullet this weekend. And what I dreaded that made me procrastinate actually happened: something went wrong! Of course, something always goes wrong.
I did however managed to climb out of the ditch I fell in. When I moved all the pre-2012 files into an archive folder (funnily enough called ‘pre2012’), the website worked, but logging into WordPress didn’t. Oh no. Then I remembered that when I first embedded WordPress into this RapidWeaver generated site back in 2007, one of the things I had to do was edit the Site URL and the WordPress URL. And I remembered it had to be different! I surprise myself sometimes, remembering things like this from over 15 years ago.
So, going out on a limb, I moved everything back to how it was, and then logged into WordPress. Once logged in, I changed the Site URL and the WordPress URL to what it would have to be, once all the files are archived in the ‘pre2012’ folder. As I kind of expected, as soon as I clicked ‘Save’, everything broke (presumably because the the Site URL and WordPress URL are no longer correct). Then, I moved all the website files into the archive… and voila! It all works. I am typing this post to confirm that everything is hunki dori. Phew.
And now to start didi.com.au all over again, in my new life as a community learning centre coordinator and wannabe data scientist. Stay tuned!
OMG has it been that long since my last blog post? Why, that’s several lifetimes ago! Today, over a decade later, I’ve decided to do a little catch-up post. The images and content you see in this website are no longer relevant, as I am no longer a full time musician. I did teach music part-time for about 3 years, but I now work in community adult learning at the South Perth Learning Centre splc.org.au (haven’t figured out how to do URL links on this new WordPress). I still play music as a hobby, and do the occasional restaurant gig here and there with my wife Juliet. But with all the ‘adulting’, I won’t get a chance to refurbish this website just yet I’m afraid, so you (and I) will have to put up with images and content from decades past on didi.com.au 😐. For more recent activities, you can find me on www.linkedin.com/in/didimudigdo/, maybe see you there!
We are helping out a mobile library in Poso Indonesia for kids in remote areas, please help by voting for us online, before 30th June!
We are raising ‘clicks’ (which will in turn raise funds) for a mobile library in Poso Indonesia that uses a van and boat to bring books to kids in remote areas. The library is called Sophia Library and run buy an inspirational activist Poso lady named Lian Gogali.
Here’s how it works: an Australian pension fund company SunSuper generously gives out grants of $5000 every month as part of it’s corporate social responsibility program. The recipient of this $5000 is decided by an application followed by an online vote. The grant application that gets the most online votes wins the $5000 for the month.
So, to help the Poso mobile library hire its van and boat ($5000 will cover operational costs for three years!), all you have to do is go to our grant application online, and then vote for us online, before 30th June! The steps are pretty simple:
- click this link to read about the cause
- If you’d like to vote, click the ‘vote’ button
- enter your first name, e-mail address, and the numbers/letters you see (this is to prevent spam)
- an e-mail will be automatically sent to you, check your own e-mail
- open the e-mail from SunSuper
- click the link in that e-mail
Thank you for your help!
Didi & Juliet
After spending most of the last few years developing their ukulele/piano-bass duo Polkadot + Moonbeam, Didi Mudigdo and his partner Juliet Pang felt the need for an artistic outlet that focused on and explored their primary instruments: vocals and piano. To that end, White Noise was formed.
On May 20th at 10 pm, White Noise will be premiered at the 2012 Singapore Arts Festival at the Festival Village Main Stage, featuring Singapore’s ‘dream-team’ jazz rhythm section of Eddie Jansen (bass) and Tan Boon Gee (drums).
This year’s Singapore Arts Festival is themed ‘Our Lost Poems’, and for this theme White Noise has prepared a programme that will incorporate traditional folk songs and nursery rhymes with jazz arrangements and original compositions.
As of March 2012, Didi Mudigdo has been performing regularly with her partner Juliet Pang as Polkadot + Moonbeam at Empire Hotel Subang Jaya in Selangor Malaysia. Polkadot + Moonbeam perform in three venues within the hotel: Shout Bar Lounge, Kitchen Art Brasserie and Di Wei Chinese Restaurant (click on the thumbnails below to view the respective posters). Here is a blog post of their Shout performance by the Malaysian food blogger Bok from taufulou.com. The schedule for these performances are on the calendar, and will go through to May 2012.
